5th Annual Purple Run

What is the Purple Run?
As you'll see in Our Story, the Purple Run began with a partnership between the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office and the University of Michigan Police Department who wanted to recognize Domestic Violence Month in a way that benefited their community.

What does the Purple Run Benefit?
All proceeds of the Purple Run go to SafeHouse Center, the Washtenaw County resource for survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.

I can't make it. Can I still support SafeHouse Center?
Of course! Please visit SafeHouse Center's donation page here to make a donation. Let them know in the comments box that you're making the donation in honor of the Purple Run!

I'm so not a runner. Can I still participate?
Absolutely! Everyone is welcome! The 5k will remain the same, but you can use whatever method of movement you'd like to reach the end. Run, jog, walk, skip, stroll-- we're open to anything. Please note that while we welcome both strollers and wheelchairs, bikes and skateboards are not allowed.

Can I bring my dog?
We love dogs! In fact, we love them so much that many of our local canine units will be out helping with the Purple Run. We also love horses! In fact, we love them so much that the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Mounted Unit will be helping out with the Purple Run.  However, because highly trained police dogs and horses can really spook the average pup, we ask that you leave your dogs at home to prevent any problems.

What happens if it rains?
The Purple Run will be happening rain or shine. The exception, however, would be extreme weather. We'll cancel in the event of a tornado, a thunderstorm, hailstorm, or blizzard (hey, it's Michigan).

Can I have a map of the race?
Of course! You'll find it here.

Where do I park?
The never-ending question when planning something in Ann Arbor, right? The race is held on the University of Michigan's North Campus, and will begin and end at the Duderstadt Center (or "the Dude", as it's more commonly called).

Parking will be available and FREE on Saturday in Lot NC43, which is located just south of the School of Art and Architecture. The lot entrance is off Fuller Rd, between Bonisteel and Beal Avenues (across the street from the VA Hospital). Park and head north beyond the Art/Architecture building across Bonisteel Ave to the Dude.  Lot NC5 will be available for overflow and is just east of NC43. This lot is located just south of the Gerstacker building. The lot entrance is also off Fuller Rd, between Bonisteel and Beal Avenues (across the street from the VA Hospital). Park and head north beyond the Engineering buildings across Bonisteel Ave to the Dude.

Or, if you like maps, you can just click here to see exactly where lots NC43 and NC5 are located, and find your way there accordingly.

I can no longer attend. Can I get a refund?
Because this is a charity fundraiser, unfortunately we can't process refunds. However, if you can't attend please let us know and you can either A. put your registration in someone else's name, or B. just make your registration a full donation to SafeHouse Center. If you choose to donate your registration, we will process you a tax-deductible letter for the full amount of your registration.
